Public Relations
The Republic of Moldova’s customers for the incomprehensible reasons and without coordination with Ukrtransgaz, which is Subsidiary Company to the NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine”, since the 1st of January, 2009 started to withdraw almost full volume of natural gas from Ananyiv-Tyraspil-Izmayil transit gas pipeline, which is partially passes though the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
Thus, total natural gas supply in the southern direction to Balkan countries, i.e. Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece and Macedonia, has been reduced by the appropriate volume that is approximately 10 million cubic meters a day.

The above-mentioned joint actions both of Gazprom OJSC and its subsidiary company Moldovagaz OJSC introduces destabilization in natural gas supplies to Balkan countries and as well has resulted in groundless accusations towards the Ukrainian Party as the Russian gas transit state.

The NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” demands Gazprom Open JSC to give an appropriate instruction to Moldovagas OJSC as to the renewal of the previous agreed scheme of gas withdrawal for the Republic of Moldova from the established directions.

At the same time the NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” reminds once again that due to unavailability of a Technical Agreement for 2009, which has to regulate the Russian natural gas transit via the territory of Ukraine, the reliable work of gas transport systems can be provided on-line only through coordination of actions between pipeline dispatch controlling bodies of Gazprom OJSC and Ukrtransgas SC.

Ukrtransgaz SC is ready to accept the natural gas at the border “Russian Federation-Ukraine” via transit pipelines in case of their regular feeding, including gas pipeline “Urengoy-N.Pskov” in the volume not less than 65 million cubic meters a day.

Unexpected and uncoordinated changes in gas supply to the territory of Ukraine, introduced by Gazprom OJSC, are failure of the Russian Party’s contractual obligations to the European partners.
