Center on effective energy solutions by Naftogaz
Heating production from biomass (fuel wood chips) and household waste (RDF) is a part of low-carbon business strategy for the company. Due to the implementation of these projects, Naftogaz plans to replace 1.8 bln m³ of natural gas by 2027.
Production of biogas and biomethane are significant for corporate’s decarbonization. The long-term ambition is to produce 5 bln m³ of biomethane and hydrogen annually and to replace 1 bln m³ of natural gas (including biofuels).
In 2020, the first 1 MW Andriyivka pilot solar power plant in Kharkiv region began operating. In September 2020, 33 MW solar power plant in Chudniv, Zhytomyr region is operating in a standard mode.
Project works are going on to estimate prospective of 20 MW wind farm development in Mariivka , Mykolayiv region and two projects in Odesa region with total 50 MW capacity.
We plan to become a leader in “green” hydrogen production both for internal market and for export to EU. We signed a memo with German company RWE and other companies to research prospective of mutual projects development.
Charging stations for electric vehicles
Naftogaz develops EV infrastructure, having launched WeEnergy pilot project. 10 modern charging stations are already functioning at Kyiv streets with the heaviest traffic.
We are exploring the opportunities of carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) technologies, in particular, storage in the depleted oil and gas fields, as well as underground gas storage facilities in the future.
We work on energy efficient solutions for our end consumers as following topic is related to smart usage of energy resources and cost-savings, but impacts energy independence, state security and climate change.
