The New Energy business unit is responsible for the company’s renewable energy projects, in particular, solar and wind power, as well as hydrogen and bioenergy production, carbon capture, utilization and storage

2030 – Oil and Gas Company that ensures energy independence by growth of production, demand diversification of transit and renewable portfolio increase
2050 – Company is sustainable energy provider with minimal impact on the environment and climate

Activity types

Biomass

Heating production from biomass and household waste is a part of low-carbon business strategy for the company.
Biogas and biomethane

Production of biogas and biomethane are significant for corporate’s decarbonization. The long-term ambition is to produce 5 bln m³ of biomethane and hydrogen annually and to replace 1 bln m³ of natural gas (including biofuels).
Solar energy

In 2020, the first 1 MW Andriyivka pilot solar power plant in Kharkiv region began operating. In September 2020, 33 MW solar power plant in Chudniv, Zhytomyr region is operating in a standard mode.
Wind energy

Project works are going on to estimate prospective wind farm development in Mariivka, Mykolayiv region and two projects in Odesa region.
Hydrogen

We plan to become a leader in “green” hydrogen production both for internal market and for export to EU. We signed a memo with German company RWE and other companies to research prospective of mutual projects development.
Charging stations for electric vehicles

Naftogaz develops EV infrastructure, having launched WeEnergy pilot project.
CCUS projects

We are exploring the opportunities of carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) technologies, in particular, storage in the depleted oil and gas fields, as well as underground gas storage facilities in the future.
Energy service

We work on energy efficient solutions for our end consumers as following topic is related to smart usage of energy resources and cost-savings, but impacts energy independence, state security and climate change.
