Andriy Kobolyev: gas transport system cooperation to render South Stream unnecessary

European companies are already expressing their interest in cooperation in joint management of the Ukrainian gas transport system.

June 23, 2014, Kyiv — European companies are already expressing their interest in cooperation in joint management of the Ukrainian gas transport system. Legal and economic aspects of a deal, as well as required legislative amendments are being discussed, CEO of Naftogaz of Ukraine Andriy Kobolyev told at a press conference on Monday.

"Invitation of European companies to manage the Ukrainian gas transport system would allow substantial enhancement of its reliability in the eyes of the European Union and would make further construction of the South Stream inexpedient for the EU," Andriy Kobolyev said.
