Naftogaz has concluded a contract with the U.S.-based Yorktown Solutions to facilitate Naftogaz’ activities in the U.S. aimed at building awareness among relevant stakeholders of the risks posed by the construction of Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project to the establishment of the common European gas market as well as of the progress in Ukraine’s gas market reform.
Among other tasks, the services will include arranging meetings with the U.S. Congress, its committees and representatives of executive bodies in the Administration of the U.S. President, as well as leading think tanks.
The price of the contract with Yorktown Solutions is USD 37 thousand. The contract is disclosed in ProZorro e-procurement system and will be effective until the end of December 2017.
The purchase of services from Yorktown Solutions arises from the urgent need to respond to Gazprom’s intensified lobbying campaign to promote the construction of Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project. U.S. media reported that subsidiaries of the Russian monopolist spent nearly USD 1 million on this campaign in Q3 2017 alone.
Naftogaz is enhancing its activities in the U.S. pursuant to the request of 16 members of the Ukrainian parliament who demand to counteract on international threats to Ukraine’s energy security.
