NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” demands an immediate renewal of the regular gas supplies through all the transit corridors

The NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” demands the Open JSC “Gazprom” to recommence immediately the regular gas supplies via all the main transit corridors for the Russian natural gas supplies to the European customers, i.e. Soyuz, Progress, Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorod, Yelets-Kremenchug-Tyraspil-Izmayil. The Company emphasizes that due to unavailability of a Technical agreement between the NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” and the Open JSC “Gazprom” it is impossible to determine technical volumes and directions for the regular distribution of the transit gas volumes for EU countries. Thus, Gazprom proceeds deliberately to failure of its obligations to the European Union.

The NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” has received the notification regarding the reduction in the Russian gas transit volumes by 52 million cubic m a day via one of the four main transit corridors (transit corridor “Soyuz” from 72 to 20 million cubic meters a day). Under such circumstances this corridor is actually being excluded from the gas supply system to the European Union countries. That is even if the Open JSC “Gazprom” formally maintains the supply of the declared transit volumes, the NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” will not be technically capable to execute redistribution of the said volumes between the transit countries.

So, the current situation is the enough evidence of the Open JSC “Gazprom”’s inability to fulfill its obligations to EU countries.

The NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” does regard the OJSC “Gazprom”’s measures as those which threaten both the Ukrainian and European energy security and can result in unforeseeable consequences for the whole gas transport system of Europe.

The Company demands the OJSC “Gazprom” to stop technical manipulations with gas supplies volumes and directions, to synchronize operation of gas transport systems of Russian, Ukraine and Europe and to renew the constructive dynamics of negotiations.
