The NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” has transported to the European countries for the period of six (6) days of January, 2009 approximately 1.436 billion cubic meters of natural gas

The NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine”, despite of unavailability of a Contract on Natural Gas Transit via Ukraine for 2009 with Gazprom OJSC and the considerable economical and psychological pressure of the Russian party, has nevertheless transited to the European customers via the Gas Transport System of Ukraine (GTSU) for the period of six (6) days of January, 2009 1,435.9 (one thousand four hundred and thirty five point nine) million cubic meters of the Russian gas. The Company has used 52 (fifty two) million cubic meters of gas for GTSU's technological needs. The quoted values fully comply with the total volume of the Russian natural gas supply to GTSU for the said period, that is 1,488.2 (one thousand four hundred and eighty eight point two) million cubic meters.

At the same time the Company has to note that 21 (twenty one) million cubic meters of gas a day or 126 (one hundred and twenty six) million cubic meters of gas per 6 days have been necessary to keep gas-pumping units operable during transportation of the Russian natural gas.

Thus, one can establish a fact that Ukraine for the period of six days of January, 2009 has transferred to the European customers 74 (seventy four) million cubic meters of gas from its own reserves.

The NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” once again calls upon Gazprom OJSC' management to stop statements and accusations having the nature of an ultimatum, which do not represent the real facts.
