The parties discussed the current issues with regard to gas supply to Ukraine and its transit via the territory of the country. The parties pointed out the constructive character of cooperation and the fulfillment of the commitments as per the Agreement for the development of the relations in the gas sector. In 2009 the work will be continued according to the principles fixed in the Agreement.
The parties also discussed the volumes of gas supply and transit under direct contracts between Gazprom and NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine”. Consultations were held on a pricing aspect for gas to be supplied to Ukraine in 2009. The parties will continue to prepare the relevant contracts for signing.
In March 2008 Gazprom and NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” signed the Agreement to develop the relations in the gas sector.
In 2008 Ukraine will be supplied with gas from Central Asia in the amount of no less than 55 bcm priced at USD 179.5 per 1,000 cu m. Now the gas is purchased at the Russian – Ukrainian border by NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine”.
Pursuant to the Agreement, starting from May 1, 2008, the direct gas supplies to Ukraine’s industrial customers, in the volume of 7.5 bcm, are being done by Gazprom fully owned subsidiary Gazprom Zbut Ukraine Ltd.
