Kyiv , October 5, 2006

In September 2006, NaftoGaz Ukrainy National Joint Stock Company injected 3.74 billion cu m of natural gas into its underground gas storage facilities (USF). That was the largest volume of gas that had ever been injected in September into Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities in the history of independent Ukraine.

As the Company reported earlier, 3.78 billion cu m of gas was injected into the underground gas storage facilities in August, also a record volume for that month in the past 15 years.

Thanks to the record volumes of natural gas injected in August and September, NaftoGaz Ukrainy accumulated had in its USFs a total of 24.32 billion cu m of this fuel as of October 1 or 550 million cu m more than last year (23.77 billion cu m).

According to an instruction of Minister of Fuel and Power Yuriy Boiko, NaftoGaz Ukrainy NJSC will bring the volume of working gas in its USFs up to 25 billion cu m.

That volume will be sufficient to completely satisfy Ukraine’s internal demand for natural gas in the coming heating season and will guarantee reliable transit of natural gas across the territory of Ukraine to European countries.
