Yuriy Prodan, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, Andriy Kobolyev, Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, and Ihor Lokhman, Chairman of the Board of Ukrtransgaz, arrived in Bratislava today to finalize discussions on the memorandum of understanding regarding the organization of reverse flows of natural gas from Slovakia to Ukraine. It is expected that the memorandum will be signed at 2pm, Bratislava time.

Following the negotiations last week in Bratislava and Kyiv, the parties have agreed that the memorandum should open way to develop both the small-flow option (the Vojany line) and the large-flow option (the DUG-2 line, one of the four underutilized lines currently supplying gas to the EU). In order to implement each of the options, the parties have agreed to undertake a number of technical and legal steps. The discussions were assisted by representatives of the European Commission.

Further details will be provided in due course.
