NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine is ready to become a driver of the hydrogen economy in Ukraine, CEO Yuriy Vitrenko stated during his recent appearance on the Velyka Piatnytsia show on Ukraina-24 TV channel.

"Yes, we are ready. And we discussed this with Chancellor Merkel. In particular, we discussed that this very promising topic will develop around Naftogaz, including the topic of the "hydrogen economy" and "green hydrogen." We even discussed specific pilot projects with certain German companies, which we will implement in the near future,” said the Naftogaz CEO.

According to Vitrenko, in the near future a meeting will be organized by the German side including Minister Altmeier, where the transportation of green hydrogen from Ukraine to Germany will be discussed.

"In Ukraine, there are really huge opportunities for the development of renewable energy including sun, wind, and biomass. Therefore, they want us to produce renewable energy, which in the form of green hydrogen - produced from green energy - would be transported to Germany, where it would be consumed as energy,” Vitrenko commented.
