Following the auction, the company secured 10 lots with a total capacity of 300 MW.
The auction was conducted on a competitive basis. Nine companies submitted 93 bids with a total capacity of 1.218 GW. Demand was therefore almost twice as high as the quota offered, while the average bid price was 26% below the auction’s starting price. As a result, the state, represented by State Enterprise Guaranteed Buyer, secured favourable terms and tangible savings.
The competitive selection process makes it possible to attract investment in new generation capacity on market terms and at a price that benefits both consumers and the state. Naftogaz Group’s new wind farms will increase the share of renewable generation in Ukraine and strengthen the country’s energy security. At the same time, this is an important step towards modernising and decarbonising Ukraine’s energy sector, as well as further integrating it into the European energy market,” commented Sergii Fedorenko, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Naftogaz.
Developing renewable energy generation forms part of the implementation of Naftogaz Group’s decarbonisation strategy.
