The Business Unit's portfolio includes around 60 new fields under exploration. In late 2020, Naftogaz received new resource opportunities: access to Yuzivska gas field, areas in the Black Sea, and four large onshore fields.
Development of existing oil and gas fields

The Business Unit is developing more than 140 hydrocarbon deposits in 12 regions of Ukraine. More than 75% of these deposits have been depleted by 80-90%.
Production of gas and liquid hydrocarbons

Hydrocarbons are produced at 13 oil and gas fields which feature extensive onshore infrastructure. The current well fund includes up to 2,000 units. The length of inter-industrial gas pipelines is 9500 km.

As part of the implementation of the resource base development strategy, the Business Unit is developing its own research base and implementing a digitalisation program. In 2020, a 3D Modelling Centre that is unique for Ukraine was created.

Yurii Tkachuk

Yurii Tkachuk has more than 25 years of experience in large companies across Ukraine’s energy and industrial sectors.

He previously served as chief financial officer (CFO) at Zaporizhtransformator PrJSC, CFO of the Industrial Division at Energy Standard Group, and finance business partner for the Technical business enabling unit at Naftogaz of Ukraine.

Since November 2022, he has held the position of CFO at PJSC Ukrnafta, where he has been responsible for financial strategy, risk management, and investment policy. From May to December 2025, served as Acting Director of the company.

Tkachuk holds a degree with honors in economic engineering from the Zaporizhzhia State Engineering Academy and an Executive MBA with honors from the International Institute of Business. He also completed the JICA Management Program (Japan).
