Priority areas of work — stabilization of production in depleted fields and increasing the resource base: exploration of fields in the Black Sea, Yuzivska gas field, 4 large fields under production-sharing agreements (PSA) and other fields

Key task

Improving the efficiency of production and finding new sources to increase the resource base.

The Business Unit currently develops more than 140 hydrocarbon deposits in 12 regions of Ukraine.

Exploration works to explore new oil and gas fields are carried out in the Dnieper-Donetsk basin (Yuzivska gas field), as well as in the Carpathian region and in the Black Sea.

Activity types

Prospecting and exploration of new hydrocarbon fields

The Business Unit's portfolio includes around 60 new fields under exploration. In late 2020, Naftogaz received new resource opportunities: access to Yuzivska gas field, areas in the Black Sea, and four large onshore fields.
Development of existing oil and gas fields

The Business Unit is developing more than 140 hydrocarbon deposits in 12 regions of Ukraine. More than 75% of these deposits have been depleted by 80-90%.
Production of gas and liquid hydrocarbons

Hydrocarbons are produced at 13 oil and gas fields which feature extensive onshore infrastructure. The current well fund includes up to 2,000 units. The length of inter-industrial gas pipelines is 9500 km.
Scientific activity linked to the exploration and development of oil and gas fields

As part of the implementation of the resource base development strategy, the Business Unit is developing its own research base and implementing a digitalisation program. In 2020, a 3D Modelling Centre that is unique for Ukraine was created.

Serhii Lahno

Serhii Lahno has 20 years of experience in hydrocarbon production, progressing from operator and senior process engineer at Poltavagasvydobuvannya GPD to Chief Engineer at JSC Ukrgasvydobuvannya.

His responsibilities include management of the company's technical divisions, including ground infrastructure, production dispatching, metrology, automation, and mechanical and energy divisions.

He graduated from National University «Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic» with a degree in Oil and Gas Equipment. His second degree is in Oil and Gas Production from Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas.
