The Ukrainian Prime Minister thanked the Supervisory Board for conducting an open and transparent selection process, which led to Koretskyi’s appointment.
He outlined five key priorities for the new Naftogaz leadership:
- preparing for the upcoming heating season
- ensuring sufficient gas reserves
- restoring infrastructure damaged by Russian attacks
- boosting domestic gas production
- expanding cogeneration capacity
Denys Shmyhal emphasized that Naftogaz remains a cornerstone of Ukraine's energy security and wished Sergii Koretskyi success in his new role.
Anthony Marino highlighted the significance of the company's mission amid ongoing security challenges, and praised the professionalism and dedication of Naftogaz Group’s 100,000 employees.
Marino also underscored the importance of the independent selection process conducted by the Supervisory Board in line with best corporate governance practices: “I am grateful to the government for supporting Naftogaz and enabling the Supervisory Board to strengthen corporate governance, conduct a fair and transparent competition for the position of Chairman of the Board, and exercise the freedom to select the most qualified candidate.”
New Naftogaz CEO Sergii Koretskyi thanked the Prime Minister and the Chairman of the Supervisory Board for their trust and reaffirmed his readiness to make difficult decisions amid the ongoing war.
I wish to sincerely thank the Supervisory Board for their decision, for conducting a professional and transparent competition, and for placing their trust in me. I also extend my heartfelt gratitude to the government and to the Prime Minister personally for their continued support and confidence throughout my work to transform Ukrnafta and Ukrtatnafta. I firmly believe that it was the political will of the Ukrainian President and the government that enabled my team and I to deliver results, and I am truly proud of what we have accomplished,” commented Koretskyi.
The newly appointed Naftogaz CEO also thanked the Naftogaz Group team for their resilience and called for open, honest cooperation:
I deeply respect your professionalism and understand what you’ve endured during the war. I appreciate how you have faced every challenge, especially since large-scale Russian shelling began. I sincerely thank you, both as a Ukrainian and as a colleague. I am prepared for tough challenges and difficult decisions, and I fully understand the priorities outlined by the Prime Minister. I count on your support and cooperation. Honesty, transparency, openness, and professionalism are core values for me. If we share these principles, I’m confident we can achieve much more. Together we will overcome any challenge.”
Sergii Koretskyi also underlined that he is committed to service to the state, openness, and efficiency of public administration.
