Oleksiy Chernyshov: 2.5 bcm of gas has been pumped into Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities so far in 2023, which corresponds to the same period in 2022

As of 19 July 2023, Ukraine has already stored 11.7 bcm of gas in underground gas storage facilities, which is in line with the plan to prepare natural gas reserves for the next winter.

Since the start of the 2023 pumping season, 2.5 bcm of gas has been delivered to Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities. This corresponds to the same period in 2022. The preparation of gas reserves for the coming winter season is generally in line with the plan. Moreover, in July we pumped even more gas than anticipated,” commented Naftogaz CEO Oleksiy Chernyshov.

Chernyshov added that this represents an excellent result, given that in Q2 2023 gas consumption increased by 13% as compared to the same period in 2022.

The upward trend in gas consumption is driven by a number of factors, including the gradual recovery of our country’s economy. However, as can be seen from the available data, we still manage to achieve all our goals in preparation for the next winter, ” he added.
