Naftogaz Group and EBRD expand partnership to strengthen Ukraine’s energy resilience

During the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC), Naftogaz Group and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed a memorandum on comprehensive partnership and a grant agreement for Ukrnafta.

Under the memorandum, the parties will expand cooperation in the areas of energy security, and the recovery and modernization of Ukraine’s infrastructure.

Naftogaz plays a central role in safeguarding Ukraine’s energy security at this critical time, and the EBRD is proud to support these efforts. This signing reflects our shared commitment to ensuring reliable gas supply and preparedness for the upcoming heating season, while advancing critical corporate governance reforms and supporting human capital recovery. We will continue deepening our longstanding collaboration with Naftogaz and remain its key partner,” said Matteo Patrone, Vice President, Banking, EBRD.

Another area of cooperation is the development of distributed generation. Ukrnafta, a Naftogaz Group company, signed a EUR 44.6 million grant agreement with the EBRD. Combined with the previously secured EUR 80 million concessional loan from the EBRD, this financing will help accelerate the implementation of projects to develop new distributed generation facilities with a total capacity of 62 MW.

These agreements cover the key areas of our cooperation with the EBRD: energy security, infrastructure recovery and modernization, and the development of distributed generation. They will help strengthen the resilience of Ukraine’s energy system and accelerate the implementation of projects the country needs today. I am grateful to the EBRD for its consistent support and strategic partnership,” said Sergii Koretskyi, Chief Executive Officer of Naftogaz Group.
