Acting Naftogaz Chairman of the Board Roman Chumak met with senior European Commission officials in Brussels on March 6, 2025, to discuss the fallout from recent Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and efforts to bolster the country’s energy resilience.
Roman Chumak held talks with Dr. Anna Jarosz-Friis, Director of Ukraine Service at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighbourhood (DG ENEST), and Dr. Yolanda Garcia Mezquita of the Directorate-General for Energy (DG ENER).
The Ukrainian energy sector remains under attack. Strengthening cooperation with European partners is critical to ensuring stability and energy security,” Chumak said. “We will continue working on solutions that support both Ukraine and the broader European market”.
Naftogaz has been engaging with international partners to sustain Ukraine’s energy system amid the war.
“We appreciate the European Commission’s dialogue and expertise,” Chumak added.
The meeting comes as Naftogaz prepares to receive a Norwegian grant to fund gas purchases, part of broader efforts to stabilize Ukraine’s energy supply.
