Speaking at the annual meeting of the heads of Ukraine’s foreign diplomatic missions, Sergii Fedorenko, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Naftogaz, said that since the beginning of 2026, Naftogaz Group’s facilities have been hit by 287 Russian attacks—more than during the whole of 2025 and the first three years of the full-scale war combined. Despite this unprecedented pressure, the company continues to produce gas, restore damaged facilities, and prepare for winter.
The list of priorities includes projects to secure grant financing for the purchase of additional volumes of natural gas, conclude contracts for the supply of backup equipment, obtain technical assistance for the restoration of damaged infrastructure, and diversify gas supply sources and routes.
According to Naftogaz estimates, Russian attacks on gas production facilities and the need to increase natural gas imports have significantly increased the demand for international financial support. Grant financing remains the priority.
Delivering these priorities requires substantive engagement with governments, international financial institutions, donors, and energy companies. To accelerate results, we must act together and in a coordinated manner,” Sergii Fedorenko said.
During the meeting, Naftogaz also presented opportunities for international cooperation. These include the use of Ukraine’s underground gas storage facilities, the expansion of LNG supply routes, and the implementation of joint investment projects in gas production, power generation, and fuel infrastructure development, as well as the exchange of expertise on protecting energy infrastructure.
Naftogaz thanked Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the country’s foreign diplomatic missions for their constructive cooperation and stressed the importance of continued coordination of efforts to mobilise international support and implement the priority projects.
