Bombardment of Kherson CHP plant continues: Naftogaz steps up assistance to the city

Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces have deliberately shelled the Kherson combined heat and power plant using artillery and drones. The primary objective of the attacks is to prevent the possibility of restoring damaged equipment and to complicate further repair work.

The Kherson CHP plant was the only source of heating supply for tens of thousands of city residents.

Under conditions of constant bombardment, Naftogaz Group and the local authorities are working to provide Kherson residents with alternative sources of heat.

Already this week, Naftogaz Group will deliver another batch of assistance to the city, including an additional 950 gas heaters together with cylinders. Other measures are also being taken to ensure backup supply. The heat situation in Kherson is one of the most critical in the country. We are coordinating our actions with the Ukrainian Government and the local authorities,” said Sergii Koretskyi, Chief Executive Officer of Naftogaz.

Naftogaz has already delivered 1,000 electric heaters to Kherson, as well as 750 gas heaters supplied together with cylinders. Assistance is being delivered to the city in stages, taking into account the security situation and urgent needs.

Naftogaz Group continues to operate in intensified mode, focusing on supporting residents of frontline regions and on finding solutions to get through the heating season amid constant attacks on civilian energy infrastructure.
