Sergiy Konovets has stepped down as Naftogaz Deputy CEO as of 7 November. He had been responsible for managing the group’s financial resources.

Sergiy Konovets contributed substantially to Naftogaz’s shift from loss-generating state budget recipient to modern and transparent company meeting European standards. Last year, Naftogaz paid UAH 138.6 billion to the Ukrainian state budget.

During his five years as Naftogaz Deputy CEO, the company introduced a system of internal controls while unifying the investment and accounting policies of Naftogaz group.

His achievements also include introducing an effective model for capital structure management and entering external loan markets while decreasing the cost of Naftogaz’s debt portfolio and current loans.

“I am grateful to Sergiy for his contribution to sometimes tough but always interesting challenges we have dealt with in Naftogaz, and for his contribution to reforming the group. I’m sure that Sergiy’s experience and skills acquired at Naftogaz will serve him well in his new position,” Naftogaz CEO Andriy Kobolyev said.

In September 2019, the National Bank of Ukraine confirmed the appointment of Sergiy Konovets as an independent director on the supervisory board of state-owned Ukreximbank.

Naftogaz has selected a candidate to take over responsibility for managing the financial resources of Naftogaz group. He is currently undergoing hiring procedures.
