Oleksiy Chernyshov: Ukraine is strengthening gas storage and production cooperation with European partners

"Ukraine is helping strengthen Europe's energy stability," commented Naftogaz CEO Oleksiy Chernyshov on 27 March during a two-day working visit to Brussels.

Our goal is to strengthen cooperation with our European partners, including storing European gas reserves in Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities and launching joint gas production projects in Ukraine," the Head of Naftogaz Group noted.

During his working visit to Brussels, Oleksiy Chernyshov is scheduled to meet with:

  • Maroš Šefčovič,  Vice-President of the European Commission for Interinstitutional Relations;
  • Kadri Simson, European Commissioner for Energy;
  • Oliver Varhelyi, European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement;
  • Cristian Busoi, member of the European Parliament, Head of Committee on Industry, Research and Energy.

During a planned meeting with the NATO Political Committee, we will also discuss gas storage and production issues, our visions for the development of Ukraine's oil and gas sector, and the experience of passing the heating season in view of the full-scale war. As a result, I look forward to deepening our cooperation, which is important for the energy sustainability of both Ukraine and Europe," Oleksiy Chernyshov emphasized.

Earlier, Oleksiy Chernyshov called on representatives of the Energy Community Secretariat for assistance to promote Ukrainian UGS facilities in Europe.
