“Supporting domestic gas production is one of Naftogaz’s key priorities amid ongoing enemy attacks. As early as 2026, an additional eight new wells are planned within the framework of this cooperation. Synergy between the Group’s companies enables more efficient use of resources and accelerates the implementation of projects that deliver tangible results,” said Naftogaz CEO Sergii Koretskyi.
The project is the first practical step in the development of internal cooperation within the Group aimed at increasing natural gas production in Ukraine.
As part of the project, Ukrgasvydobuvannya carried out drilling using its own drilling rigs, while Ukrnafta is responsible for further well completion and operation.
“This is Ukrnafta’s first joint project with Ukrgasvydobuvannya. We have established a model of cooperation between the companies and achieved a practical result that creates a foundation for scaling up such cooperation going forward,” said Bogdan Kukura, CEO of Ukrnafta.
The well is currently at the completion stage. The drilling rig will be used for drilling subsequent wells at Ukrnafta’s fields.
“Providing Ukrgasvydobuvannya’s services for the efficient use of the drilling rig fleet to increase hydrocarbon production for the state is a strategically important area of development. It strengthens Ukraine’s energy security and also establishes a new practice of successful cooperation within the Naftogaz Group,” emphasized Yurii Tkachuk, CEO of Ukrgasvydobuvannya.
