The initiative builds on earlier agreements reached between Ukraine and the United States on supporting Ukraine’s energy sector. In particular, it envisages financing for the restoration and development of energy infrastructure damaged as a result of Russian attacks.
The Naftogaz team had been preparing this agreement over the past six months. It became possible thanks to the visit of Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko to the United States and her talks with EXIM Bank President John Jovanovic.
Special thanks to Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States, Stefanishyna Olga, for her work with American manufacturers, and to the head of the US delegation at URC 2026, Acting US Under Secretary of State for Foreign Assistance, Humanitarian Affairs, and Religious Freedom Jeremy Lewin.
This step launches practical work to create a financing mechanism that will help bring advanced US technologies, equipment, and services to meet the needs of Naftogaz Group. For us, this is an important step towards restoring damaged facilities, strengthening energy resilience, and implementing the company’s strategic projects. I thank the Ukrainian Government, the EXIM Bank team, and our American partners for their support and joint work on solutions that help strengthen Ukraine’s energy security,” said Sergii Koretskyi, Chief Executive Officer of Naftogaz.
