Naftogaz holds high-level negotiations with international partners ahead of heating season

Naftogaz Group is intensifying dialogue with international financial institutions to ensure the stable operation of Ukraine’s energy system during the upcoming heating season.

Naftogaz CEO Sergii Koretskyi has held meetings with representatives of the International Monetary Fund’s mission for Ukraine led by Gavin Gray. He also met with a delegation from the European Investment Bank which included Matteo Rivellini, Director of Public Sector Lending for Eastern Partnership countries, and Kristina Mikulova, Head of the EIB Delegation to Ukraine.

In addition, video calls have been held with the European Commission, represented by Anna Jarosz-Friis, Director of the Ukraine Service at the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR), as well as with Arvid Tuerkner, Managing Director for Ukraine and Moldova at the EBRD.

The parties discussed the restoration of facilities damaged by Russian attacks, increasing domestic production, developing distributed generation, and building up the necessary gas reserves to ensure stable operation during the upcoming heating season.

Thanks to effective cooperation with the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy, and the Ministry of Energy, we have made significant progress in attracting additional financing. I am sincerely grateful for this support,” commented Koretskyi.

BACKGROUND: Sergii Koretskyi was appointed CEO of Naftogaz on May 14. His appointment was officially announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
