This was stated in a new report by a working group consisting of representatives of the USAID Energy Security Project, the Ministry of Energy, the Energy Community Secretariat, OGTSU LLC, Naftogaz Group (NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine and subsidiary JSC Ukrtransgaz), the European Commission's Directorate-General Joint Research Center, and Simone Research Group.
Following the results of an independent peer assessment conducted by foreign experts that modeled crisis scenarios for emergency stress tests, even if Russia attacks Ukraine's gas infrastructure, this will not prevent the withdrawal of natural gas from Ukrainian underground storage facilities and its transportation to the EU border.
We have received confirmation of reliable and uninterrupted operation of Ukrainian UGS facilities with foreign partners. An independent technical assessment of any process is always a necessity. It confirms that our processes meet international standards. This in itself is a guarantee of the services we provide," said Oleksiy Chernyshov, Chairman of Naftogaz Group.
Chernyshov added that the use of Ukrainian underground storage facilities by foreign companies to store gas reserves will contribute to the energy security of Ukrainians and to the state budget.
