Ukraine last year managed to significantly diversify its sources of imported natural gas for the first time in the country’s history. Gas imports from Europe rose 138% (from 2.1 to 5.0 billion cubic meters (bcm)) while Russian imports fell 44% (from 25.8 to 14.5 bcm). The share of Russian gas in Ukraine’s domestic consumption decreased by more than a third in 2014, accounting for 34% of total. Gas supply diversification will remain a priority for Naftogaz in 2015.
