Oleksiy Chernyshov: Ukrtransgaz begins gas injection season at underground storage facilities

The team at JSC Ukrtransgaz, Ukraine’s gas storage operator and part of Naftogaz Group, has begun a new season of gas injection into underground storage facilities. During the withdrawal season from 7 October 2022, 5.572 bcm of gas was withdrawn from the country’s underground storage facilities.

Compared to previous years, this year’s withdrawal season was shorter. This is due to favourable weather conditions and a relatively warm winter. I am very grateful to the Ukrtransgaz team and all Naftogaz Group employees for their well-coordinated work last winter. It helped us resist and provide heat to Ukrainians,” noted Naftogaz Group CEO Oleksiy Chernyshov.

During the 2022/2023 heating season, despite Russia’s full-scale invasion, Ukrainian underground storage facilities demonstrated smooth operation.

We keep operating as normal. Our team is ready to face any challenges. In fact, we have already started preparations for the next winter,” added Interim Director General of JSC Ukrtransgaz Roman Maliutin.

Background: Naftogaz Group thanks brave and professional gas workers who helped Ukraine get through the winter, and shares their difficult and heroic stories.
