Brave and professional: Naftogaz empowers women to safeguard its facilities

Since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the number of women employed by Naftogazbezpeka, Naftogaz Group’s security center, has surged by 244. In February 2022, women accounted for roughly one in eleven employees; today, they make up one in seven.

This increase is largely driven by women joining the company’s security division.

Our facilities require reliable protection, and gender is not a determining factor—what matters is professionalism, responsibility, and the ability to perform under challenging conditions. Women who have chosen a career in security demonstrate exceptional training and resilience. We support their choice and provide all the necessary conditions for their professional growth,” said Roman Chumak, Acting Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine.

Security personnel are responsible for maintaining safety, monitoring premises, and ensuring the integrity of protected sites.

Currently, the company employs 443 women, 387 of whom serve in security roles. Amid the ongoing war, 110 women have switched professions and retrained for security positions.

We encourage our employees to develop new skills and advance their careers. That’s why the company has facilitated specialized training and certification for security guards at the third category level. This initiative enables our employees to officially engage in security operations and perform their duties with the highest level of competence,” said Yurii Sydorenko, CEO of SE "Naftogazbezpeka".
