“This agreement allows us to achieve two important goals at once. First, ensuring additional volumes of imported gas that are critically needed during the heating season due to Russian attacks on Ukraine’s civilian energy infrastructure. Second, our partners, together with Poland’s export credit agency KUKE, are providing us with a credit facility for post-payment of delivered volumes, which helps to cover the current liquidity gap,” said Sergii Koretskyi, Chief Executive Officer of Naftogaz.

The agreement was signed in the presence and with the support of Ukraine’s Minister of Energy Svitlana Grynchuk, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Energy, Government Plenipotentiary for Strategic Energy Infrastructure Wojciech Wrochna, Director-General for Energy at the European Commission Ditte Juul Jorgensen, Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Energy Joshua Volz, U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Ukraine Julie Davis, U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright, and U.S. Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum.
The ORLEN–Naftogaz agreement, defining the framework for a future gas supply contract, represents an important step towards strengthening the region’s energy security and is further evidence of ORLEN’s growing role in the international gas market. Its conclusion is the result of the strong cooperation built between our companies. I am therefore pleased that over 300 million cubic metres of American LNG will flow to our neighbours. We have well-developed trading competencies, underpinned, among other things, by our experience gained on the US market, and we hold capacity reservations in both receiving and transmission infrastructure, which enables us to offer competitive terms to our customers. We are proud of the trust placed in us by Naftogaz and are believe that further strengthening of our partnership will contribute to the effective delivery of both companies’ strategic business objectives. Thank you for the support of the Polish government, the good cooperation with our American partners, and the trust of Nafogaz, which creates a solid foundation for future contracts,” said Robert Soszyński, COO and Vice President of the Management Board of ORLEN.
The agreement is the latest stage in expanding cooperation between the two companies. Earlier in 2025, Naftogaz contracted approximately 450 million cubic meters of American LNG from ORLEN.
