New alternative fuel CHP will be constructed in Novoyavorivsk. Yuriy Vitrenko, CEO of National Joint Stock Company “Naftogaz of Ukraine” announced it during his working visit to Lviv oblast. “Owing to this new project, the town is to obtain a reliable heat supply, while people will have stable hot water supply. And that will be economically feasible," - summed up Yuriy Vitrenko, CEO of National Joint Stock Company “Nafrogaz of Ukraine”.
New modern alternative fuel CHP is planned to be constructed within the shortest time possible. The project also provides for the construction of a solid waste sorting complex. “Woodchips and an organic component of solid wastes, such as paper, cardboard, food waste, wood, leather, fabric will be used as fuel for the CHP. By implementing this project, we could save USD 24 million spent on gas. While the citizens of Novoyavorivsk will be receiving lower bills for heat and hot water throughout the year," said Vitalii Mykhailo, Director General of LLC “Naftogaz Teplo”.
According to the project, the required volume of solid wastes makes 70,000 tons per year, which includes 30-35% of secondary resources, as well as biodegradable and combustible resources (65%), namely about 45,000 tons per year. Woodchips are another component to be used in the volume of 39,000 tons per year.
During the working visit, the management of Naftogaz, representatives of the oblast authorities, the town of Novoyavorivsk, and MPs were updated on the readiness of Novoyavorivsk СHP for 2022/2023 heating season. The enterprise is ready to supply heat to the consumers. Repair works on the heat networks of the town have been completed and the heat generating equipment of the CHP has been prepared. Volodymyr Matseliukh, Mayor of Novoyavorivsk, noted that in recent years, the heating season in the town has started on time and passed without accidents.
It should be recalled that the ARMA handed over Novoyavorivsk and Novyi Rozdil CHPs located in Lviv oblast to the management of Naftogaz at the end of 2019 to address the issues on the heating season in those towns.
