JSC Ukrtransnafta transported the largest volume of oil to oil refineries of Ukraine for the past decade in 2021, with an annual total of 3 mn tons (15% more than 2020). At the same time, oil transit via pipeline transport across the territory of Ukraine dropped in 2021 by 3.2% to 12.7 mn tons.
Total volume of oil transportation in 2021 was 15.7 mn tons, 0.2% less than 2020.
In December 2021, total volume of oil transportation increased by 29% (1.5 mn tons) compared to December 2020. In particular, both oil transit (by 28.1% - to 1.2 mn tons) and oil transportation volumes to oil refineries of Ukraine (33.2% - to 267 KT) have increased.
“Significant development of oil transportation to Ukrainian oil refineries and storage of transportation via Pivdennyi Sea Oil Terminal–Brody–Mozyr oil refinery helped load the capacities of the Ukrainian oil transportation system and keep total transportation volumes at the level of previous years,” noted Director General of JSC Ukrtransnafta Mykola Havrylenko.
The route Pivdennyi Sea Oil Terminal–Brody–Mozyr oil refinery was launched in 2020 to add additional capacity to the Ukrainian oil transportation system. In the span of two years, 1.6 mn tons of oil were transported via this route.
Internal oil transportation to Ukrainian oil refineries has been gradually increasing since 2016.
