“Microsoft has demonstrated their expertise in the oil and gas industry. They are able to offer specific security solutions connected with our goals and IT strategy”, says Maryna Kvashnina, Chief Information Officer at Naftogaz.
The results of working with Microsoft 365 paid off when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Naftogaz was prepared with the necessary tools for business continuity. Every month, Naftogaz employees now hold more than 1,500 Teams meetings and make 3,500 Teams audio calls. Moreover, 1,300 employees use Microsoft 365 for daily operations, with the communication protected by Microsoft 365 services.
Data centralization is part of a broader digital transformation that covers Naftogaz and its subsidiaries. This process is an element of the “Consumer-State-Suppliers” concept aiming to provide a full range of public services and products in digital format for Ukrainian citizens. In particular, the option for consumers to subscribe for a natural gas pricing plan by Gas supply company “Naftogaz of Ukraine” is already available online via the flagship “Diya” application.
The digitization of the company has been ongoing since 2018, following the launch of Naftogaz Digital Technologies — the first internal IT-service provider in Ukrainian public sector working for Naftogaz and its subsidiaries. For more than three years, the in-house contractor has successfully implemented several projects on the SAP platform. In particular, SAP S4 / HANA system for enterprise resource planning, SAP BPC (Business Planning & Consolidation) for the preparation of consolidated financial statements and business planning), in the process of implementation is the system SAP MDG module (Master Data Governance) for company master data. The Talent Management System (TMS) has been launched into commercial operation, and the Energy Trading & Risk Management (ETRM) project is in the final stages of implementation.
Today, Naftogaz finalizes the process of extending the existing memorandum on cooperation with Microsoft signed in December 2019 aiming to further transform the company’s IT infrastructure and its business processes. This agreement envisages the implementation of innovative solutions in the area of cloud and hybrid technologies, artificial intellect, machine learning, IT security, production optimization, people management and other options.
